Our Mission

People’s Legal Aid provides free legal services and education to Utahns facing eviction and debt collection lawsuits. Our services are instrumental to helping families maintain safe and affordable housing, improve their financial situation, and stop the cycle of poverty in Utah.

What People's Legal Aid is working on

Eviction representation

Utah law gives renters very little time to respond to an eviction notice. We provide timely and free legal consultations and representation in court for Utahns facing eviction.

Debt collection defense

People's Legal Aid helps Utahns struggling with debt collection and eviction fees. Our goal is to help our clients understand their rights and to avoid abusive, unfair or deceptive debt collection practices.

Policy and Partner education

We work with stakeholders, partners, and the public to make sure key decision makers understand that housing is an essential human right.

how can you support people's legal aid?

Every donation you make drastically impacts the legal services we can provide. We believe we are the first virtual nonprofit law firm which allows us to put more than 90% of your contribution goes directly to providing legal defense against eviction and debt collection actions.
